Fav’s from the Brighton Family Fair!

So, the first in the summer of family lovin’ fairs has been and gone and man was it good!!

The Sussex Pregnancy and Family Fair took Brighton Racecourse by storm in some pretty terrible “summer” weather on Sunday.  Given that the rain was so thick that I couldn’t see through it as I drove over, I was so pleased to see so many parents coming out to find out about the local people who are there to help them as their bumps become babies and then grow into crazy toddlers!

As I fell in through the doors from the blustery rain, I was met by a sea of exhibitors who were all so enthusiastic to be meeting the visitors and it was so welcoming.  There are too many to mention in one post so if you want more of an idea who you missed then visit the uFlourish page.

I had an extra special treat as I met some fellow bloggers for the very first time.  It’s been really nice in the last few months to start meeting some other bloggers, especially ahead of my trip up to Britmums Live in a few weeks. So big waves to Kate and Sharon, Claire and Chelle.

My favourites from the fair were:

1. Little Lamb

Some wonderfully soft and beautiful organic clothing which made me work hard to resist this lovely fire engine tshirt.  What I really loved was that they’ve started holding coffee mornings where they will bring the clothes out to you and your group of friends so that you can shop and look after the kids at the same time!

2. Real Ruler Height Chart

These just look amazing and a great way to record everyone’s height, not just on a wall which will eventually get painted or lost when you move house! They come in so many different colours too.

3. Growing Needs

I had a lovely chat with Rebecca from Growing Needs about their beautiful eco toys and organic clothing and eventually settled on treating Sprog to these lush little pirate skittles.

4. Katherine’s Cosy Creations

Such adorable handmade gifts by Katherine. I did indulge my shopping habit here but by buying a present for an impending arrival of a friend…completely justifiable! You can find Katherine on Facebook to have a look at her wonderful things.

5. Diddi Dance

As I approached the Diddi Dance table they were actually in the middle of giving a free taster session so i had a good giggle at the kids wiggling away and loved watching their faces as they finished up with playing with the bubbles

6. Molly Coddle

These clothes were just gorgeous, such lovely and unique patterns and designs.  I was seriously tempted by the dinosaur t-shirt but found a great stripy t-shirt for Sprog instead which he will be rocking this summer!

7. Connecta

As I mentioned on Instagram, I might have a little bit of a weakness for Connecta carriers… I did manage to resist even the gorgeous new Fun and Flight carrier that they had with them!

And I also loved the session with Guy Parker-Rees about illustrating children’s books but you can read about in another post.

Phew! All of these, plus more, and it’s totally guilt free because all of that shopping is supporting local businesses and getting amazing ideas and stuff for your little ones!

It’s a good job they’re doing it again in Chichester and Worthing over the summer.  Chichester is Sunday 28th June and Worthing is Sunday 19th July. We’ll be at the Worthing event, with Sprog in tow this time so that he can try out some new things.
