REVIEW: Spot a lot – Vehicles

In the madness of enjoying my summer break with Sprog and then going back to work, I haven’t quite got round to announcing to everyone that we were chosen as Parragon Book Buddies!

This is very exciting because it means that we get to try out a new book each month and we LOVE reading in our house.

Our first book that we were sent was Spot a lot: Vehicles. When it arrived, I was instantly excited as it contains far more than a book! O yes, this beauty has a double-sided puzzle included and comes packed in a very cute little carry case.

We received it just before the end of the hols so you can see how eager he was to show it to Daddy when he got home from work. Sprog was blown away by the box and by the puzzle to the point that one puzzle piece had to come out with us one morning!

It does mean that I can report that the pieces are relatively strong as he had a good munch on it in the car and whilst it looks nibbled, it hasn’t been destroyed!

In terms of the book, we both really love it. The basic premise of the story is that a parcel needs delivering and they use different kinds of transport. On each double page, there’s a different transport theme. Sprog loves the train and sea pages and I love the pink hot air balloon page!

This is often the first thing that Sprog goes for the in morning which is definitely a good sign when it comes to toddlers!

My favourite aspect of this though, is the questions throughout the book. ‘Can you find the green puffer fish?’, ‘Can you find the circus trains?’ There’s so many opportunities for us to challenge his numeracy and his understanding of the different vehicles in the pictures. You can increase the difficulty of your questions as you’re going – it’s a teacher’s utter paradise!

*We were sent a copy of this book to review, all opinions are my own*

  1. Oh my god, my boy would LOVE this book – the amount of buses on that page in the photo! He would go crazy haha! And that’s great that it also has a jigsaw puzzle. I’ll have to keep an eye out in the shops for this. Sabrina xx #toddlerapprovedtuesday
