Stopping?!

My last blog post was on 11th November 2015, it is now 1st December 2015. In the blogging world that is an eternity. I may as well have stopped altogether.

I hope there aren’t too many heartbroken souls who have been mourning their lack of Sprog spam… None of you have said anything if you are.

The reality for me is that for the last 3 weeks, I’ve pretty much spent every evening marking mock exams, refusing to mark mock exams and needing time to chill out, or plotting my future career plans (sorry, this shall remain a tightly guarded secret).

The reality for me is that I’ve not wanted to write. Not because anything negative has happened but because it’s just not been my priority and that’s fine with me.

The reality is that I don’t know if I’m going to continue blogging. However, it has felt lovely to even write this little post about how I’m feeling and what’s going on.

In my dream world, I’d have time to write, time to do massively fun activities with Sprog all the time and then write them up, I’d get the big freebie days out or holidays given out by PR guru’s.

In my dream world, I’d get to spend far more time with Sprog whilst working in a role that stimulated my love for teaching but without the beaucracy and politics of working within a school setting.

In my dream world, I would not have to mark mock exams or controlled assessments (that joy is still to come!)

Until this summer, I had loved blogging, the connections I had made and the community which surrounds it and I cannot thank this little online world enough for pulling me through the first couple of years of parenting as I started blogging to help find my way through the minefield when I was the first of my friends to have a small person. And fellow bloggers, whether I have time to comment or not, I am still following many of you and wish you all the best.

It’s been odd watching my stats tick along with a few hits each day without any effort, the days of triple digit views are well over but then I remember the number of blogs I was reading each day. When I don’t stop marking until 10 p.m. or later, I don’t really have the willpower to stay awake and comment on other blogs too.

I think I still love the idea of blogging and may well come back to it. I’m definitely not closing up shop entirely and have a potential business plan that may well seem me reaching out to a few blogger friends in the hopefully not too distant future…you never know, I could soon be back in your lives but in a much different way!

I’m off to curl up in bed without a blogging care in the world and only about 40 more exam questions left to mark (I started with 520 ish questions to do)! I shall leave you with some beautiful Sprog spam to make you smile.

  1. Ah I love this post. I completely understand every word. And oh my goodness… A future blogging plan, hopefully we will hear more in the future! Xx

  2. Oh lovely, I am glad you are not stopping for good! Blogging is so time consuming & with a little one plus your job and all of that marking I can completely see why blogging is not a priority. Sounds like you definitely need and deserve a break. Hope you enjoy the additional time that brings 🙂 xx

    • I’m probably not out for good, it would be amazing to have more time to be more involved as I do really enjoy it. I may be after favours in a few months time so I’m not going anywhere completely

  3. Aww, I’ll miss your posts, I just assumed you were having a little break. You can always write a post once a month to document what you as a family are doing. That’s my maiin reason for blogging, documenting our family life so the boys (and us!) can look back on it when we’re older. Completely understand what you’re saying though, you sound very busy and you need time to yourself and time with sprog too! Hope your new career decision works out well too! Good luck! Xx

    • Who knows?! I might make a comeback… I do know that it just wasn’t sustainable at the level I was going with my other commitments too! I’ll definitely be following you though, I love your blog for fabulous ideas with Sprog

  4. One of the best things about blogging (for me at least!) is that it is a hobby that fits in with me meaning that it’s absolutely fine to take a break altogether from time to time! Don’t worry, we’ll all still be here when you choose to pick it up again x

  5. I think this happens to everybody at some point. I’ve seen several people take a break and come back fresh in the past few months

  6. Good luck in your future business plan, sounds exciting whatever it may be! I think taking a break from your blog is always a good thing, no matter how long the break may be. It is easy to get bogged down by something that is supposed to be a fun hobby. Have fun marking the rest of your papers 🙂 xx #FartGlitter

  7. I sometimes get quite burnt out too. My daily posting has taken a hit. This term is a mad one for me as a teacher too. Wishing you best of luck with new adventures and you know where we are if you decide to come back to it after a break.

Thanks for linking up to #fartglitter. Hope it’s not the last time we see you.

  8. I totally hear you. Things happen which would make good blog posts but I think to myself; “I need to be enjoying this moment for what it is, rather than getting my phone out to take notes,”… It is tough. I wonder about teaching too. I don’t like my current job and I am trying to decide if I have the energy to try another school. I don’t think any would be easy though.
    Good luck!

  9. I hear ya! I find that when it starts to feel like a bit of a pressure, then it stops being so fun. I have had a lot of other things to do lately, so the blog’s taken a bit of a back seat, but now I’m just going to post when I feel the urge.

  10. I can relate. I too am juggling the parent and teacher life. Blogging does take a back seat. ‘m currently making myself read a few blogs and linking up to #SundayStars because I need some chill time. I’ve spent the day running around and the week doing a lot of school work so i’m having an hour for me. Hope you come back to blogging. Good luck with your next venture.

  11. Love your honesty in this post, blogging is hard work! Some times you just need a little break. I know I do every now and then. Best of luck with all the future your new career path idea’s sound exciting hope the do become a reality for you. Thanks for sharing on #sundaystars x

  12. I relate to this post so much. I think there is lots of pressure to post regularly – daily if you can! I can’t and don’t. I too wish I had the time to blog more and to be the type of blogger who has PRs flocking to book me. But I am not. I blog as and when I want to. I blog for me. And after a lot of soul searching. I am really happy with that. I wrote a post last week and before that I hadn’t written anything for over a month. I am happy with this. Anything else is a bonus. I hope you are able to put that exciting business plan into action. And that it won’t be too long before we hear from you again. Hugs Mrs H xxxx
